Temple

The motto “Flecti non frangi” means
“To bend but not break”

The Ancient name of Temple was first recorded in Britain in 1131. It was noted and recorded as the person of Hugo of de Temple in the County of Cambridge.

Our earliest known ancestors came from Sandwich in Kent. We have much information prior to William John Temple of 1809 but it has been most difficult to substantiate it.  I include here a chart of our Temple Family as we understand it – but please bear in mind that data prior to William John (as above) is not necessarily correct.  People and dates post William John are confirmed.
